Viton is known for its chemical resistance and for use in oxygen-rich environments. Viton is less susceptible than rubber to decay when used in an environment of high oxygen (O2) concentration. It also has a lower probability of ignition. For these reasons, Viton is regarded as oxygen compatible and preferred for use in Nitrox, Trimix and other high-concentration oxygen applications.
